Virtual Office UK — registered office and director address services.
Use Britvex for the UK address support your company actually needs: registered office, director service address, business correspondence and connected mail handling — with company, accounting and compliance support available around it.
What do you need the address to do?
“Virtual office” can mean several different things. Start with the function you actually need and Britvex can connect the company and compliance work around it.
Registered Office Address
The official address shown for your company on the Companies House register and used for statutory company correspondence.
Ask about registered office service →Director Service Address
A public correspondence address for a director, separate from the residential address held privately by Companies House.
Ask about director address service →Business Address
A professional correspondence route for eligible businesses where business-address use forms part of the agreed Britvex service.
Ask about business address use →Mail Handling
Keep relevant correspondence connected to your Britvex relationship, with the exact handling arrangement confirmed during onboarding.
Discuss mail handling →Useful when your company needs a UK address — but your work happens elsewhere.
The right address service depends on how the company is structured, where the directors are based and what correspondence needs to be received.
Keep a home address away from the public company register.
A separate registered office or service address can help avoid using a residential address publicly, subject to the service being appropriate for the required purpose.
Set up a UK company presence while operating from abroad.
Connect the address requirement to company formation, Companies House administration and ongoing UK accounting rather than managing each item separately.
Move the company away from an unsuitable or unwanted public address.
Britvex can discuss the address service you require and the connected company changes or compliance work that may follow.
Use a correspondence address without treating it as your residential address.
Director service addresses and usual residential addresses serve different purposes in the Companies House record.
Your registered office, service address and home address are not the same thing.
A company’s registered office is its official address and is publicly available on the Companies House register. Directors also provide a service address for public correspondence, while their usual residential address is supplied separately.
For a UK company, the registered office must be a physical address in the same UK jurisdiction where the company was incorporated. It must be an appropriate address: company post should reach someone acting for the business, and delivery must be capable of acknowledgement. A PO Box alone is not acceptable. A service provider address can be used when it meets these conditions and permission has been obtained. Read the Companies House registered-office rules.
A director’s service address is publicly visible, while the usual residential address is generally held privately by Companies House. Using a separate service address can help avoid publishing a home address going forward, but does not automatically remove an address that was previously disclosed. Business correspondence and mail forwarding are different services, so the exact permitted use and handling terms should be confirmed before activation. See Companies House guidance on personal information.
Choose → Verify → Activate → Maintain.
Address services should not be activated blindly. We first understand what the address will be used for, complete the required onboarding and then connect the service to your wider Britvex relationship.
Tell us what the address needs to do.
Registered office, director service address, business correspondence, mail handling — or a combination.
Complete onboarding and identity checks.
We confirm the company, relevant people and intended use before the service is activated.
Confirm the address and permitted use.
The exact address, start date and agreed mail arrangement are confirmed as part of the service.
Keep the company and correspondence connected.
Add company compliance, accounting, tax and portal access as the relationship develops.
Keep the address connected to the company itself.
A virtual office is often only the first requirement. The stronger setup is to connect the address, statutory obligations and financial work through one professional relationship.
Based outside the UK? The company can still need a proper UK address.
Directors do not need to live in the UK simply because they run a UK limited company, but the company itself must have a qualifying UK registered office. Britvex can connect that requirement to the wider UK company relationship.
Clear service. Clear identity. Clear next step.
Britvex treats address services as part of a professional client relationship — not simply as an anonymous address rental.
Common questions about a UK virtual office.
The exact answer can depend on your company, jurisdiction and the specific service you need, so Britvex confirms suitability during onboarding.
Is a virtual office the same as a registered office?
Not necessarily. “Virtual office” is a broad commercial term. A registered office is the company’s official address for Companies House purposes and must satisfy specific legal requirements. Britvex confirms which service you are actually requesting.
Can I keep my home address off the public Companies House register?
A company can use an appropriate alternative registered office instead of a home address. Directors can also use a service address for public correspondence. Companies House still requires the director’s usual residential address separately.
Can an overseas director use a UK virtual office?
UK company directors do not generally have to live in the UK. The company does, however, need an appropriate registered office in the relevant UK jurisdiction. Suitability of the Britvex service is confirmed before activation.
Can I use the address for all of my business mail?
Do not assume that every type of correspondence is included. The permitted use of the address and the mail-handling arrangement are agreed with Britvex during onboarding.
Can Britvex form my company and provide the address at the same time?
Britvex provides company-formation and company-support services, so the two requirements can be discussed together. The address service must be in place and suitable for the intended company before it is used.
What happens after the address service is active?
You can keep the relationship focused on the address service or connect wider company compliance, bookkeeping, payroll, annual accounts and tax work where those services are needed.
