How Britvex uses cookies and similar browser technologies.
This notice explains how Britvex.co.uk may store information on, or access information from, your device through cookies and similar technologies. It also explains when consent is required, when a legal exception may apply and how you can control non-essential uses.
It is broader than traditional cookies.
Non-exempt storage or access technologies require prior consent.
Under the current UK PECR framework, Britvex must explain the technologies and their purposes and obtain consent before using them unless a specific statutory exception applies. The law now contains several exceptions, but each one is narrow and applies only where its conditions are met.
Essential to provide a service you request.
These can include security, session or technical functions needed for the site or a requested online feature to operate. Where the strict necessity exception applies, prior consent is not required.
Privacy-preserving service statistics can qualify for an exception.
Current PECR rules allow a statistical-purpose exception only where the statutory requirements are satisfied. Clear information and a simple, free means of objecting must be provided.
Preferences can qualify for a limited exception.
Technologies used solely to adapt how the service appears or functions to a user’s preference may qualify for the appearance exception, again subject to the required transparency and easy objection mechanism.
Non-exempt tracking requires consent before use.
Advertising, remarketing, profiling and other non-exempt purposes should not be activated before the user has given valid consent. If one technology serves several purposes, every purpose must be assessed.
Five PECR exceptions now exist — but an exception is not automatic.
The Data (Use and Access) Act changed the storage and access rules, and the ICO finalized updated guidance in April 2026. Each exception depends on the actual purpose and conditions of the technology being used.
We do not intentionally deploy advertising or remarketing tracking as part of the current WordPress configuration.
At the date of this notice, our active WordPress configuration does not include an identified Google Analytics or Meta Pixel implementation, and our active plugin set is limited to core site-management, SEO and integration tools. The website or hosting environment may still use strictly necessary security, session, technical or preference-related storage technologies.
Technology should be assessed by purpose, not merely by cookie name.
You should be able to control non-essential technologies and object where an exception requires an objection mechanism.
Where Britvex introduces technologies that require consent, they should remain disabled until the user makes a valid choice. Where Britvex relies on the statistical-purpose or appearance exception, users must be given clear information and a simple way to object. Browser controls may also allow you to delete or block stored information, but they do not replace website-side controls where the law requires those controls.
Most browsers allow you to inspect, delete or block cookies and site storage. Blocking all cookies can affect website functions that depend on session or security storage. Browser settings are one control, but Britvex should not rely on them alone where PECR requires consent or a simple objection mechanism.
